- ARPIT: The Annual Refresher Programme in Teaching (ARPIT) is an initiative for online professional development of 15 lakh higher education faculty using the MOOCs platform SWAYAM.
- CSIR: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has been contributing for several decades in India’s socio-economic development. It develops and deploys knowledge-based technology and innovation.
- Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat: This programme aims to actively enhance interaction between people of diverse cultures living in different States and UTs in India, to promote greater mutual understanding amongst them.
- GIAN: The Global Initiative of Academic Networks is an initiative that taps the talent pool of scientist and entrepreneurs internationally by creating collaborations of Indian institutes of higher education with foreign academics.
- HEFA: The Higher Education Financing Agency is a joint venture of MHRD Government of India and Canara Bank with an agreed equity participation in the ratio of 91% and 9% respectively. It was set up in 2017 by the Central Government as a NonProfit, Non-Banking Financing Company (NBFC).
- ICCSR: The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) was established in 1969 by the Government of India to promote research in social sciences in the country.
- IMPRESS: The “Impactful Policy Research in Social Sciences (IMPRESS)” identifies and funds research proposals in social sciences with impact on the governance and society. It is for financing creation of capital assets in premier educational institutions in India as part of rising 2022.
- IMPRINT: It stands for “IMPacting Research INnovation and Technology”, a first-of-its-kind Pan-IIT and IISc joint initiative to develop a New Education Policy, and a Roadmap for Research to solve major engineering and technology challenges in selected domains needed by the country.
- INFLIBNET Centre: The Information and Library Network Centre is an autonomous Inter-University Centre of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India under the MHR, estd. in 1991 and located at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
- IOE: The Institutes of Eminence are institutions which are expected to make into top 500 world rankings in a decade.
- LEAP: The Leadership for Academicians Programme (LEAP) is a three weeks Flagship leadership development training programme (2 weeks domestic and one week foreign training) for second level academic functionaries in public funded higher education institutions.
- MUSK: The Madhyamik and Uchchtar Shiksha Kosh (MUSK) was created by the govt. as a single non-lapsable corpus fund for Secondary and Higher education from the proceeds of Cess for Secondary and Higher Education levied under Section 136 of Finance Act, 2007.
- NAVODAYA VIDYALAYAS: These are residential schools providing good quality modern education from Class VI to Class VIII for talented rural children without any pressure to pay the fees.
- NSDL: The NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited (NSDL e-Gov) was originally setup as a Depository in 1995 and has over the years used its inherent strengths, project management capabilities & technology expertise to deliver state of the art e-Governance solutions. It runs the PM Vidya Lakshmi portal for loans and scholarships.
- NTA: The National Testing Agency (NTA) was established by GoI as a premier, autonomous and self-sustained testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions.
- PMRF: The PMRF scheme is aimed at attracting the talent pool of the country to pursue the doctoral (Ph.D.) programmes of IITs and IISc for research in cutting edge science and technology domains.
- RISE: The Revitalising Infrastructure and Systems in Education (RISE) scheme was launched to revitalize the infrastructure of higher educational institutions with a total investment of Rs. 1 lakh crore in four years, with the help of HEFA.
- RUSA: Launched in 2013, RUSA is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) to increase enrolment in higher education by 30% by 2020.
- Samagra Shiksha: It is an Integrated Scheme for School Education as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) with effect from the year 2018-19. It subsumed the three erstwhile CSS of (i) Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), (ii) Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and (iii) Teacher Education (TE).
- Shodhganga: It is the digital repository of Indian Electronic Theses and Dissertations set-up by the INFLIBNET Centre.
- SWAYAM: It stands for ‘Study Webs of Active learning for Young Aspiring Minds’ and is a Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) platform launched to offer online courses for school education and higher education.
